I love a fast pace line! Adrenaline anyone?
It seems as if it was just a short time ago, as I was musing about the 2013 race season plans, I may have mentioned this event. And here we are! It is hard to believe today is May 2 and the season is underway.
I'm ready. I've trained for climbing and I am (for the most part) confident going into this weekend. My goal is to relax and enjoy the day. The only kink in the plan is there is a 70% chance of rain on Saturday. Alas, as always I am putting a positive light upon the forecast and am hopeful for sunshine. (Smile, with fingers crossed.)
I am traveling in good company. I have the great fortune to have made some pretty wonderful friends who share the love for the sport of cycling and triathlon. The group I am traveling with has participated in this event many times in the past, but for me it will be a first. I'm psyched! In one day we will cycle 100 miles, cover 3 states and 3 mountains with rolling hills in between. The start is in Tennessee, then traveling through a portion of Alabama, part of Georgia then back to Tennessee. The rain will add to the challenge.

I will update you, and hopefully have photos to share after the weekend! I hope you have a splendid weekend as well, and happy Cinco de Mayo!!
You restore my confidence in cycling. Thank you!
ReplyDeleteI certainly admire the comradery that seems to be part & parcel of things. A great motivator too.
ReplyDeleteCheers, ic
You're cycling in a really pretty part of the country, Michelle, my neck of the woods. Hopefully, the chance of rain will diminish for tomorrow. Looks like a great way to spend a weekend!
ReplyDeleteMichelle, my father-in-law used to live up in the mountains, fifty miles north of Chattanooga. It's beautiful country and uphill all the way. Sounds like an exhilarating way to spend a weekend. Have fun with your bicycling buddies.
ReplyDeletewow.. you are always up to adventures whenever I visit you.. Love it girl!! Have fun :)
ReplyDeleteBest wishes for you!!!! Go get 'em!!!!
ReplyDeleteAll the best Michelle, as long as you do your best to complete what you've set out to do you are successful. Keep it up girlie :) GO GO GO
ReplyDeleteI hope you faired well during the 3m3s challenge. The weather was deffinately challenging. If you have not ridden in the area before please come back soon and ride in our normally beautiful spring time weather. I have ridden the 3m3s about 5 times and normally the vistas are spectacular and very much safer. Hr
ReplyDeleteHoward, it was terrible. Did you ride? Not one person in our group made it far, only two made it to mile 75 and opted for the shorter route back to the stadium. Sadly, there were several of us who opted out due to the dangerous conditions. I did get a century ride in today :) I will try again next year! I'm training for RAIN now.
DeleteWell everyone, thank you for your well wishes! We made our way down to TN Friday, however the weather worsened as the evening wore on, and Saturday came with dangerous conditions. I opted not to ride, along with many other cyclists. Too risky, and I have many more races on my calendar. Working on my blog post now, but no regrets here I know I made the right call. Stay tuned :)
ReplyDeleteI admire cyclists like yourself, but I honestly feel it's a masochistic sport. My son does similar to you and has all the gear.have a great time, because I know rge cycling fraternity is a strong one and the company is a big plus. Meanwhile I'll stick to tennis. the beach and the gym.
ReplyDeleteIt is indeed a dangerous sport. I love it, but have a healthy respect for the danger. I not only ride my bike, I know my bike and how it works...wear a helmet..and am diligent. Tennis, the beach and the gym are faves of mine as well! :)
DeleteVisiting your blog today I realized I miss cycling a lot. I think it's an adventurous sport and we get to meet plenty of new friends. :)
ReplyDeleteSo true!! I love a good challenge :) Thanks for visiting!
